Recently, Year 3/4 children told the story of the Viking raid on Lindisfarne in 793AD. Their amazing artwork, using oil pastels, was inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry which focussed on telling a story from (left to right) through artwork. Well done everybody!
On Friday 4th February, Year 3/4 enjoyed a Viking Day in school. Catherine Conyard from History to Life came to share her fantastic knowledge and resources with the children which made for a busy day!
The children heard about the Viking way of life and were given the opportunity to sketch various different artefacts, identifying the materials the Vikings used and working out what each object would have been used for – the children did much better than the teachers!
They then worked around a carousel of activities including playing a strategic game of Tafl, learning about longhouses as well as designing their own and creating a keyring made from leather printed with runes using antler.
The day ended with the children learning about Viking warfare and being introduced to the changes in armour, shields and weapons.
A great day was had by all full of learning and fun!
Miss Austin's Maths class have recently been dividing with remainders. They have used physical, visual and written methods. Well done Year 3!
