Out of School Visits

School visits have always been an integral part of the range of experiences provided for the children at North Ferriby CE Primary School and since we have adopted a more thematic approach to teaching and learning, they have become a central part of the learning experience. Visits range from exploring the beautiful local environment to residential visits in Year 5 and 6.

There have been residential visits to London, taking in wonderful theatre performances such as the Lion King and Mary Poppins; visits to Norfolk, where children enjoyed outdoor pursuits coupled with fantastic ICT facilities and the annual educational visit to Bamburgh, Northumberland for a week which most children claim to remember for ever.

School Trips

Day visits supporting the curriculum have seen shelter building and orienteering in Dalby Forest, dressing up as Roman soldiers at a Roman camp in West Yorkshire, learning about energy sources at a power plant in Scunthorpe, finding out about seaside towns in Filey and Hornsea, being taught as a Victorian child at Normanby Hall and learning about World War II at Eden Camp as well as a variety of visits to museums as far away as Eureka!

Teachers at North Ferriby CE Primary School are aware of the potential dangers of visits and take every precaution when preparing. All of the necessary risk assessments are undertaken and all coaches must be equipped with seatbelts. It is a measure of the teachers’ commitment to the value of educational visits that they are all keen to organise such events.
