School Safety Zone

Church Road, which runs between the two school sites, poses a number of hazards for children. As a result of this, a “School Safety Zone” has been established. The zone covers the area from North of the school entrance to South of the village library. The zone is clearly marked and is identified by red bands across the road and road signs. Within the zone there is a speed limit of 20mph at all times. The yellow zig-zag markings and double yellow lines identify areas where there is no parking or dropping off at any time.

We ask anyone who delivers and picks up children by car to park sensibly, and observe the restrictions of the School Safety Zone.

Please do not reverse or drive into the school entrances.

The school entrances are particularly hazardous places at the beginning and end of the day. Please wait for your child on foot, further up the pedestrian access, away from the road. On the main site please wait on the triangular “No Parking” area. On the Key Stage 1 site please wait in the large playground. There are waiting shelters on both sites for use in inclement weather.

School Uniform

Children are encouraged to wear the school colours, which are red and grey. The uniform gives children a feeling of identity and helps towards developing a sense of unity within the school. For full details of the preferred school wear click the link below.

You can download an order form here. Cost of all items are shown on the form. Please print off and return the completed form to the school office. (Sorry, you cannot order online through this website.)

Jewellery

Please do not send your child to school wearing unnecessary jewellery. We cannot take responsibility for lost items and more important is the safety element especially during P.E. and Games when the wearing of jewellery is not allowed. Ear studs only are acceptable and must be removed for P.E., Games and Dance. If ears have only recently been pierced and it is inadvisable to take them out, the studs must be covered for the lesson with plasters or micro tape. This is in the best interest of your child’s health and safety.

Lost Property

It is important to label all your child’s belongings clearly. Lost property is gradually acquired throughout the year and of course when items can be identified, it is much easier to return them to the correct owner. Belongings which are not clearly named are initially collected at the School Office and kept there for the term. Any unclaimed items are then removed and stored for up to 12 months.

Please consult the School Office if items go missing.

Holidays in Term Time

The school strongly encourages parents and carers not to arrange holidays during the school term. Where this is unavoidable, they are asked to complete a holiday form and submit it to the school giving at least 5 days notice.

You can download a “Holiday Form” using the link below. The form includes guidance about holidays in term time.

Please print off and return the completed form to the school office. (Sorry, you cannot submit the form online through this website.)

Fundraising

From time to time the school identifies projects that require additional funding over and above the allocation from the Local Authority.

The School Kitchen Project

The Governing Body has agreed to support this project to improve the kitchen servery area, and install commercial equipment, so that hot meals can be cooked in-house. The East Riding of Yorkshire Council has allocated £35000 through a community bid submitted by ward councillors. In order to secure the grant, a further £35000 must be raised to match. The Parish Council has supported the project by agreeing to pay for circulation of a newsletter detailing the project and its progress.

The School Kitchen Fund is now growing. Funds have already been raised through the efforts of school staff, parents and governors.

Fundraising activity has included:

Sponsored Walk by school kitchen assistants £920

E-Bay auctions £175

Parking for Hull City v North Ferriby United £200
