The New Curriculum: September 2014 onwards
As some of you may know, the government have brought in a 'New Curriculum' for primary schools which began for most pupils in September 2014.
This curriculum had a degree of 'phasing in' as although most years groups started with it straight away, Year 2 and Year 6 continued with the old curriculum and then in summer term 2015 went on to be the last ever pupils to take the Y2 and Y6 SATs.
- Pupils are no longer assessed using 'Levels' but instead compared against 'Age Related Expectations'.
- Some subjects have had slight changes in focus (e.g. the computing curriculum has a greater focus on the technical elements such as control, monitoring and programming).
