National Curriculum Tests

Congratulations go to the School for being ranked sixth of those schools in the East Riding that undertook the SATS tests for 11 year olds in Summer 2010. With an increased point score from 2009 the Governors of the school have extended their thanks to Mr Orr the head teacher, and to the staff. Well done to those young people that are now at secondary school for their hard work.

Local Authority Assessment

Each year an adviser from the Local Authority’s School Improvement Service undertakes a Charter Visit to the school to assess how well it is performing.

Our Local Authority School Improvement Partner has made the following encouraging statement.

“The school has more than met the very high expectations in terms of standards and achievement, and is now well within the top 25% performance for three core subjects at Level 4+ and Level 5+. This demonstrates just how significant progress has been since the last inspection such that the school is now judged to be successful and effective and firmly on the journey towards being considered outstanding.”

Financial Management Standards in Schools

The school has recently achieved the Financial Management Standard, which is a national standards for schools. This certifies that all decision making by Governors and School Leadership team are in accordance with exacting standards and probity. The Standards were achieved following submission of evidence from the school to the Local Authority, who then carried out an in-depth scrutiny of the policies, procedures and decision-making relating to school finance.

Yorkshire Water Award

We are delighted to have received a generous grant from Yorkshire Water. This has been used to develop an orchard on the Key Stage 1 site near the playground. New trees have been planted and bench seats installed to provide a shady learning area for years to come.

The School Orchard

The work on the orchard was carried out by staff from Laing O'Rourke, contractors working in the area for Yorkshire Water. Thanks to both companies for supporting our school.
